Training Courses

The QHA offers the following qualifications that many jobs and roles in the hotel industry require before or shortly after employment commences.  

  • Responsible Management of Licensed Venue Course (RMLV) – RMLV training assists managers in the responsible operation of licensed premises. This course is mandatory for applicants for new liquor licences, liquor licence transfers and for liquor Approved Manager licence holders. Course cost: $395 (QHA members) or $495 (non-members).
  • Gaming Nominee Training Course (GNT) – This training course covers the legal responsibilities and best practise management techniques in accordance with the Gaming Machine Act (Qld). GNT training is a mandatory requirement for all applicants for a Gaming Nominee licence. Course cost $495.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Course (RSA – SITHFAB002– This course promotes responsible service of alcohol in licensed premises and is mandatory in Queensland for all staff involved in the sale and /or supply of liquor. Course cost: $35.
    • RSA courses are predominantly delivered online.
    • Face-to-face RSA courses are available for group bookings (i.e. a venue or school) by calling us on 3221 6999 or email training@qha.org.au.
  • Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG  – SITHGAM001) – This course delivers the skills and knowledge required to deliver responsible gambling services, and provides information to staff to assist customers regarding their gambling activity. RSG is a mandatory course for all staff who carry out gaming tasks. Course cost: $30.
    • RSG courses are predominantly delivered online.
    • Face-to-face RSG courses are available for group bookings (i.e. a venue or school) by calling us on 3221 6999 or email training@qha.org.au.
  • Premium Barista Course – This is a quality one-day barista course that provides hotel staff with the ability to setup and maintain an expresso machine, prepare common expresso, milk and other beverages on an expresso menu and much more. The QHA have partnered with Grinders® Coffee to deliver this premium course at their contemporary learning facility in Woolloongabba. Cost for QHA members $495.00. See Training Calendar below. 
  • Professional development courses  – The QHA offers a range of hospitality industry specific courses including:

    - Cooking the BooksHow to run a profitable food operation.
    - Developing Hotel Management Skills - Increase the ability of you or your staff to effectively manage operational and personnel aspects of the hotel business.

The QHA is a registered training organisation (RTO: 30826) by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and is approved by the Queensland Office of Liquor and Gaming regulation to deliver the mandatory RMLV and GNT training courses.
