Workplace health and safety auditing is used to evaluate the status of health and safety in the work environment and helps to facilitate employers’ legal obligation in providing a risk free workplace. The QHA Work Health and Safety Department undertakes various auditing tasks which generically review workplace systems, practices, procedures and equipment, and establish whether the workplace meets compliance standards set by legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards.
Prior to the current Work Health and Safety Act 2011, there was a legislated requirement for Workplace Health and Safety Officers (who were appointed to businesses employing 30 or more persons) to conduct an annual WHS assessment. Although this mandatory obligation has now ended, it used to provide a valuable snapshot of the state of work health and safety in that business. The QHA is still able to conduct an assessment using the authorised Workplace Health and Safety Queensland audit tool to establish whether your business is compliant.
There is a graduated scale of fees for auditing services dependent upon QHA Membership.
