QHA Hotel Care is a very special annual project, aimed at raising much-needed funds for medical research conducted in Queensland, as well as helping our regional hospitals buy additional equipment for patient care.
The QHA, in partnership with the Mater Foundation and PA Research Foundation, encourages hotels across Queensland to participate in the annual QHA Hotel Care campaign. It’s a simple and fun way for hotels to fundraise for a good cause.
Every hotel that registers to participate in QHA Hotel Care 2010 will receive a FREE fundraising kit, which includes posters, donation boxes, beer tap woblers and fun nurses' hats to promote the campign.
Participating in QHA Hotel Care can be as simple as placing donation boxes on the counters of your bars and bottleshops for patrons to pop in their spare change!
In 2009, more than 250 Queensland hotels participated in the campaign, raising an impressive $210,000 for the cause. Over the past six years, QHA Hotel Care has raised more than $1,045,000 for medical research and regional hospitals.
To help improve the health of the community, we need your hotel to participate!
In 2009, ALH Group ran a special “Your health is at steak” campaign, donating $2 for every steak purchased during the campaign period. The group raised an impressive $101,000. Other hotels run raffles, themed party nights, car washes, corporate breakfasts and golf days to raise funds.
Medical researchers at the Mater and PA Hospitals are working hard to find cures and better treatments for a host of diseases and illnesses, including a range of cancers. These research teams are breaking ground, but medical research is an expensive business and requires community funding to keep it moving ahead. This is where we need the hotel industry’s help.
It is said that for every dollar invested in medical research, the community benefits SIX times that amount. The QHA encourages hotels across the State to participate in any way they can to help the health of the whole community.
QHA Hotel Care takes place in September 2010. For more information, contact Keri Crompton, QHA Communications Manager, on 07 3221 6999.
