QHA Hotel Care is a very special annual project, aimed at raising much-needed funds for medical research conducted in Queensland, as well as helping our regional hospitals buy additional equipment for patient care.
The QHA, in partnership with the Mater Foundation and PA Research Foundation, encourages hotels across Queensland to participate in the annual QHA Hotel Care campaign. It’s a simple and fun way for hotels to fundraise for a good cause.
In 2010, more than 230 Queensland hotels participated in the campaign, raising an impressive $240,000 for the cause. Over the past seven years, QHA Hotel Care has raised more than $1,285,000 for medical research and regional hospitals.
In 2010, ALH Group ran a special “Your health is at steak” campaign, donating $2 for every steak purchased during the campaign period. The group raised an impressive $108,000. Other hotels run raffles, themed party nights, car washes, corporate breakfasts and golf days to raise funds.
Medical researchers at the Mater and PA Hospitals are working hard to find cures and better treatments for a host of diseases and illnesses, including a range of cancers. These research teams are breaking ground, but medical research is an expensive business and requires community funding to keep it moving ahead. This is where we need the hotel industry’s help.
It is said that for every dollar invested in medical research, the community benefits SIX times that amount. The QHA encourages hotels across the State to participate in any way they can to help the health of the whole community.
