QHA Awards For Excellence 2012:
nominations now open!

The QHA Awards for Excellence is the highlight of the Queensland hotel events calendar, bringing together hotel industry members and stakeholders from all corners of the State to celebrate our vibrant industry and recognise those hotels that have achieved excellence.

Nominations are now open for the 2012 Awards program. All financial members of the QHA are encouraged to "have a go" and nominate their venue. The Nomination Booklet has been mailed to every QHA hotel member, and additional copies may be requested by calling the QHA on 07 3221 6999.

Nominations close at 5pm, Friday 6 July 2012.

The annual QHA Awards for Excellence, celebrating its 20th year in 2012, were created to recognise and commend those hotels who achieve excellence in their day-to-day business. Hoteliers who lead their team to go that extra mile for patrons and guests deserve a pat on the back from industry leaders and peers. It is the hard work of our hoteliers that retains the hotel industry’s glowing reputation.

At an exclusive black-tie function to be held on Thursday 13 September 2012, hotels across Queensland will be recognised for their efforts in a range of categories such as service, facilities, marketing, responsible serving practices, training, redevelopment and workplace health and safety reforms.

QHA Members Have Always Known How To Party!  - Historic Titbit

The 6th of October 1886 was the inaugural LVA annual ball (Queensland Licensed Victuallers Association as the QHA was known at the time).  The night attracted a crowd of almost 400, with nearly all hotels being represented.  Reports from The Courier were glowing, describing how "the evening costumes worn by some of the ladies were very handsome".  After a toast to the Queen, the party danced "with vigour" until the early hours of the morning to the music of "an unusually large band".-source: QHA Review-August 2005

2009 - The Awards for Excellence Gala Presentation & Dinner attracted a crowd of over 1000, whom dressed handsomly, and partied vigorously until the early hours of the morning (and we have the photographic evidence to prove it!!)
